Staying active is a great way to keep the body in its top functioning shape. Sometimes, activity is easier than it may seem though. There are a lot of ways to stay active just around the house, without changing your typical routines!
Cleaning. Taking time to clean the house, organize belongings, or just putting things away can be a great way to keep moving without even noticing. It requires lifting, moving, standing, walking - it almost seems too easy, but devoting time to this does count as activity and can also promote a cleaner living space!
Yard Work. Mowing the grass, picking weeds, and other types of yard work also requires extended time of physical activity. Even just once a week, this labor can be exhausting yet a very functional way to get some activity into a day.
Posture. Paying attention to posture is a great way to immediately improve your appearance, while also working a few extra muscles. Imagine a string that extends from between the legs, straight up through the center of the chest, and out through the top of the head. Imagine the string being pulled upward to straighten the body into its designed posture. Good posture can help with breathing, while also strengthening the core and improving the body's appearance immediately! Practice this while watching tv or sitting at the computer!
Walking. Especially as summer is coming, walking is an easy way to get in some exercise each day. Practice walking with a bounce in your step, going up on your toes some to engage everything from the calves up to the core!
Take the stairs. Anytime you get a chance, go for the stairs! Pass on the elevator, no need to wait, just start climbing, get a little workout when you normally wouldn't!
Dancing. Sometimes it may be difficult to fit dancing into a typical routine, but I enjoy listening to music while doing any homework, sitting on the computer, cooking, cleaning, etc. With a little music in the background, I can get a little dancing in while I work! Get your family to join you or go crazy on your own, dancing is great exercise, its fun, and whether you admit it or not, you can do it while still doing your normal daily activities - even if its just a little rocking of the body!
